Quick answer

Is there a good punch list app for Android?

Yes. Punch List & Site Audit is a native Android app, not a web page squeezed onto a phone. Each item gets a title, location, trade, assignee, priority, status, due date and as many photos as you need, and you can draw on those photos to show exactly what is wrong. The app stores everything on the phone, so it keeps working where the signal drops, and it turns the list into a PDF report on the spot. Projects, items, photos and reports are unlimited on the free version; Pro removes the watermark and adds your branding.

01

What the Android app does on site

Capture an item in a few taps

Type a short title, add the room, floor or zone, and pick a category such as electrical, plumbing, drywall or painting, or type your own. Name the trade or person responsible (the app remembers names you have used), set low, medium or high priority, and choose a due date. Anything past its date is flagged overdue in the list and in the report.

Photos that show the problem

Shoot with the camera or pull up to ten photos at a time from the gallery. On each photo you can draw freehand, add a rectangle, circle or arrow, place numbered callouts, or type a label, in eight colors and three line weights, with undo and redo. A setting can open the markup tools straight after every shot, which suits a fast walkthrough.

Keep long lists under control

Move items from open to in progress to closed with one tap. Search inside a project, filter by status, priority, category or assignee, and sort by status, category, assignee or your own drag-and-drop order. That order and the item numbers carry straight into the report.

No account, no signal needed

There is nothing to sign up for. Projects and photos live on the phone, which is what you want in a plant room, a car park level or a shell with no coverage. The connection only matters when you buy Pro or sync team projects.

A walkthrough on Android

From the first item to a sent report

The same three steps work for a contractor closing out a fit-out, a snagger on a new build or a landlord checking a flat between tenants.

1

Start a project

Add the project name, client and location, plus a cover photo if you like. Each site keeps its own list, completion bar and open-item count.

2

Walk and log

Add each defect as you find it, photograph it, mark it up and assign it. Nothing waits for a connection.

3

Build and share the PDF

Pick a layout, filter the items, choose the photo quality and share the file from the Android share sheet before you drive off.

02

What goes into the PDF report

The report is generated on the phone, so it is ready seconds after the last item. The cover page shows the project, client, location, date and a count of open, in-progress and closed items with a completion bar. After that you choose between two layouts.

Detailed layout: a card for every item with its number, status, priority, location, due date, assignee, description and photos, plus a table of contents.

Compact layout: one table row per item, with optional photo thumbnails, for lists that run to hundreds of lines.

Photo quality runs from high to none, and the app shows the file size before you send it. The illustration is an example, not a screenshot.

03

Free and Pro on Android

You can run real jobs on the free version. Pro is about how the report looks when it lands with a client.

Working with iPhone users and teams

Mixed crews are normal, so the Android app does not lock you in. The PDF opens on any phone or computer, and the CSV opens in Excel or Google Sheets. With Pro, you can export a whole project as an archive file and import it on another phone, Android or iPhone, as long as that device has Pro too.

If several people need to add to the same list, PunchList Business covers that on Android as well as iPhone and iPad. Each person signs in with a work email and a one-time code, team projects sync between phones when they are online, owners and admins manage members, and reports carry the company letterhead. It is a separate team plan sold on this site, not part of Pro.

What to check before you choose an Android punch list app

Plenty of apps on Google Play can store a list. Fewer hold up on a real walkthrough. These questions sort them quickly:

  • Can you capture and report with no signal at all, or does it need the cloud to save?
  • Can you draw on the photo, or only attach it?
  • Does every item carry a trade, a status and a due date that show up in the report?
  • Is the PDF made on the phone, or do you have to finish it on a laptop?
  • What does the free tier really allow: a few items, or whole projects?
  • Can people without the app open what you send?

To be clear about scope: this is a punch list and snagging app, not a construction management suite. It has no drawing sheets or plan pins, no RFIs or submittals, and no signature capture. If your day revolves around those, a larger platform will suit you better; if it revolves around finding defects and getting them fixed, a focused app is quicker. Our guide to choosing a punch list app goes into more detail.

Frequently asked questions

Does the Android punch list app work offline?

Yes. Projects, items and photos are saved on your phone, so you can capture, edit and build PDF reports in a basement or a new-build shell with no signal. You only need a connection to buy or restore Pro and, if your company uses PunchList Business, to sync team projects; team edits made offline sync when you are back online.

Can it make a PDF punch list report on Android?

Yes. The PDF is built on the phone in a few seconds. Choose the detailed layout, with a card and photos for every item, or the compact table for long lists, filter which items go in, and pick the photo quality to control the file size. Pages are US Letter size.

Is it free, and what does Pro add?

The app is free to download, with unlimited projects, items, photos and PDF reports. Free reports carry a diagonal watermark. Pro, a weekly or yearly subscription billed through Google Play, removes the watermark, puts your logo and contact details on every report, and adds project archive export and import. Google Play shows the price for your country before you confirm.

Can I add photos and mark them up?

Yes, and markup is free. Take a photo with the camera or pick up to ten at a time from your gallery, with no limit per item. Then draw, box, circle, point an arrow, drop a numbered callout or type a note on the photo. The clean original is kept, so you can change the markup later.

How do I share the report?

Tap share and the Android share sheet opens, so the PDF can go to any app that accepts files: your email app, a messaging app or a cloud drive. The same sheet sends the CSV spreadsheet and the ZIP of photos. Whoever receives the PDF can open it without the app or an account.

Which Android phones does it run on?

Any phone on Android 8.0 or newer. It also runs on Android tablets, using the same single-column layout as on a phone. On Google Play the app is listed as Punch List: Inspection Report.
